Sexual Health

Sex in the Dark - What is safer sex? What is a dental dam? Is intimacy without intercourse possible? Why do girls go to the bathroom together? This experiential workshop allows participants to anonymously ask questions about relationships, intimacy, sex, and the male and female anatomy. A great program for everyone, whether they choose to abstain or practice safe sex. We'll discuss everything from abstinence to latex and more!

Women's Health - A must for UTD women! This session covers sexually transmitted infection prevention, contraception options, and how to perform self breast exams. In addition, we discuss some great questions to ask your health care provider and the importance of annual exams. This is a great way to get reliable information about your body and your sexual health options in a relaxed and comfortable environment.

The Dating Game - This program makes use of audience involvement to discuss sexual relationships and the way individuals respond to each other in such relationships. Couples are asked a variety of questions to see how well they know each other and in turn, how well they communicate with each other. The key elements of a healthy relationship and compromise are also discussed, including communication as a means to sexual pleasure and success.

Sex-Tac-Toe - Test your sexual health IQ! Categories include: He said/She said, STI's, Contraception, Charades, The Unexpected, HIV/AIDS, Go For It, Dear Dr. Love, and Body Parts!

Three's A Crowd! - A discussion format that addresses alcohol and its impact on a relationship and sex.

There Once was an Alligator... - A values clarification exercise designed to encourage students to think and talk about a variety of issues including: sex, gender roles, relationships, power dynamics and sexuality.

Alcohol and Other Drugs

Health Education Jeopardy - This program is a spin off the popular television show and focuses on two main categories: HIV and alcohol. The game includes specifics about life at UTD, such as policy and procedures. A fun program that engages the entire audience!

How to Help a Friend - A program designed to address the warning signs of addiction and alcohol poisoning in those you care about. Hear effective ways to help those you care about that may have a drinking problem.

Prevention, Intervention, and You - A program on safe, responsible drinking and ways to avoid the pitfalls of overindulging. The emphasis of the program is NOT to preach abstinence but to provide strategies for enjoying alcohol and avoiding alcohol poisoning, addiction and public humiliation.

Nutrition

Healthy Eating on the Run - Never have time to cook or don't know how? Not enough time to go to the grocery store? Feeling like you have no energy and are always tired? This program can help you! Learn practical tips on improving your nutritional status and how to prepare quick meals on a tight budget. Come and get great recipes, meal ideas and how to incorporate the rainbow into your diet.

Eating Your Way Through College - A program on how to develop healthy eating habits that will help you function at your best physically and mentally, both now and in the future.

Food Bingo - A fun, interactive program that addresses the new food guide pyramid, yummy, healthy snacks that are balanced, functional foods, tips on dining out, and serving sizes in the real world. A great way to learn a lot of valuable information on nutrition.

Exercise & Fitness

Healthy Fitness - This program will present current physical activity guidelines/recommendations with the goal of reducing risk for lifestyle related diseases. Topics will include current trends in physical activity, motivational strategies for a physically active lifestyle, injury prevention, importance of proper equipment, the principles of training, and much more. Lifetime Physical Activity - The focus of this program is on exercise as an enjoyable activity throughout life. The program begins with a brief overview of general fitness concepts followed by a discussion on how to assess fitness levels, set goals, and design a personal fitness program. Guidelines for including all three main components of fitness are included, along with injury prevention tips.

Self-Esteem

Mirror, Mirror - This presentation will discuss principles of healthy eating, warning signs of disordered eating, healthy weight management, and the importance of self-worth. At the end of the program, individuals will have a better understanding of the psychological aspects of eating disorders. In addition, the program addresses how to help someone with disordered eating or a poor body image by looking at what is and is not ok to say, resources available, how to support a friend without antagonizing and enabling them.

General Wellness

Health Behavior Change - Everyone can identify one attribute or characteristic that they would like to improve. Want to reduce stress, manage your time better, lose weight, eat healthier, stop procrastinating? You've found a great program that can help you! This program provides you with the tools needed to make a personal plan of action. Learn how to set, achieve, and maintain your goals.

Feeling for Health! - Learn the skills that can save your life! This is an engaging program about breast and testicular cancer.  Learn the importance of early detection, how to perform a self exam, and then practice...on our breast and testicle models that is!

Fun in the Sun - Your body experiences many changes in different climates. Learn how to take care of it in the summer sun. This interactive program explores dehydration, safe tanning, skin care, etc.

Manage you Stress - Stress is a part of life, especially for college student. This is a program that will help you learn a variety of relaxation techniques, the importance of stress management, and how stress affects the body. We will also look at the value or laughter.

Sexual Assault

Sexual Assault on Campus - Issues such as rape myths and misperceptions, tips on how to avoid being a victim, and how to help someone who has been raped will be addressed. It can happen to anyone, at anytime. Sign up and learn how to protect yourself!
