How To... Connect Using VPN Software

These are the instructions for connecting using the VPN software on a Windows computer.

  1. From the Start Menu, select the Cisco Systems VPN Client group and click on VPN Client.

  2. Once the client is open, you will have the option of choosing between two profiles. Use the UTD-ISP profile if you are trying to access UTD computing resources from off-campus. Use the UTD-Wireless profile if you are trying to access UTD computing resources using the campus wireless network. Once you select the appropriate profile, click on the Connect button to proceed.

  3. A popup prompting you to authenticate will appear. Enter in your NetID and password in their respective fields.

  4. Once a VPN tunnel has been successfully established with UTD, you will see the following box. Click Continue to proceed.

  5. You are connected to the UTD VPN whenever you see the yellow padlock icon in your machine's system tray along the bottom of the screen.

  6. To disconnect, right-click on the padlock icon and select Disconnect from the menu.

  1. From the Applications menu , select the VPN Client application.
