  3. Proceed to Step Two.

  1. Next, you will need to setup a VPN connection on your home computer to the UTD network. To establish a VPN connection, see How To Install Virtual Private Networking Software and How To Connect Using VPN Software.

  2. Once you have the VPN connection established on your home computer, you will need to map the network drives. From the Start Menu, right-select the My Computer button and click on Map Network Drive.

  3. Once the Map Network Drive Wizard opens, you will have to enter in the drive letter and folder location of the network drive you wish to access. Leave the Reconnect at logon option unchecked. For this example, we will connect to the P: drive. Click on Connect using a different user name to proceed.

    Note:
Because the machines off campus are not part of the domain, they will need to use the fully qualified domain name. For most hosts, add .utdallas.edu to the end of the name. However for the campus domain, you must append .ad.utdallas.edu to the end of the host you wish to connect to (\\campus.ad.utdallas.edu\....\....).
