How To... Set Up Out of Office Reply

These are the instructions for setting up your out of office reply if you have an Exchange e-mail account.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Out of Office Assistant... .

  2. From here, the Out of Office Assistant will open up.

    To set up a new AutoReply, select the I am currently Out of the Office option and then type your message in the respective box below. Click OK to finish.

  3. You can add additional rules, such as deleting certain messages or moving them to specific folders, by clicking Add Rule... and following the wizard.

  4. Once you are back in your office, follow the steps above to set your status to I am currently In the Office.

  5. For further assistance, contact the Help Desk at 972-883-2911 or assist@utdallas.edu. The Help Desk’s office is located in JO 3.906.

These are the instructions for setting up your out of office reply if you have an IMAP e-mail account.

You can choose one of the following two options:

  • You can e-mail postmaster@utdallas.edu and ask for a vacation message.

    or

  • Place a request with the Help Desk (972-883-2911 or assist@utdallas.edu) to have a vacation message set. Make sure to tell them what you want it to say and when you need it removed.

Once you are back in your office, please make sure you contact postmaster@utdallas.edu or Help Desk to let them know that you are back.
