Global Venture Challenge 2009
Oak Ridge National Laboratory is hosting the GlobalVenture Challenge 2009 on March 25-27, 2009. This event is to encourage students to launch new technology-based businesses. The 2009 event is focused on bioenergy, energy efficiency and renewable energies. Fifteen interdisciplinary graduate school teams from the U.S. and the United Kingdom presented business ideas and compete for a $25,000 cash prize. This event includes the Energy Venture Showcase which highlights start-up companies and give them an opportunity to interact with the industrial and investiment communities. 16-Year-Old Gets Started on Doctoral Degree
At an age when most students have yet to finish high school, Austin Howard has begun Ph.D. studies at UT Dallas and can't wait to get started on his physics research. He started college at age 13. read more
Prof Gives Speech on Data Mining and Privacy
Computer science researcher Bhavani Thuraisingham recently delivered a keynote address titled "Privacy, Security and Trust for Data Mining" at an international conference. read more
Award to Help Prof Build a Better Microscope
A UT Dallas researcher has received a $1.2 million award from the National Institutes of Health to further develop a new technology for the three-dimensional microscopic imaging of living cells. read more
