Kang Zhang


Dr. Kang Zhang is Professor Emeritus of Computer Science, Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas. He was a Fulbright Distinguished Chair at Charles University, Czech Republic, in Fall 2019 (see UTD March 2020 News), and a tenured Full Professor at UT-Dallas until May 2021, when he officially retired. Zhang held academic positions in the UK (Jan. 1986 - Aug. 1991) and Australia (Sep. 1991 - Dec. 1999), before moving to the USA, and was an ACM Distinguished Speaker (2018-2021). His research interests are in the areas of visual languages, aesthetic computing and information visualization, generative art, and software engineering.

Zhang is a Senior Editorial Board member of Journal of Visual Languages and Computing, Area Editor of International Journal of Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering, an Editorial Board member of The Visual Computer, Journal of Big Data, International Journal of Advanced Intelligence, and Visual Computing for Industry, Biomedicine and Art.
